In March, 2009 the Arts Institute partnered with H.O. Brittingham Elementary School and was awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant by the U.S. Department of Education. The grant supports after-school enrichment focused upon academics and those activities that complement excellence, especially for students in high-poverty and low-performing schools. The project couples arts education professionals with academic professionals to create an arts-based reading enhancement program four days each week for 30-weeks each academic year over five years.

 This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
